The CISV Washington DC Chapter was founded in 1971. Through these 50 years, our chapter has been a diverse group of people united by the ideals of CISV. We are diverse in ethnicity, White, Black, Indian, Chinese, with immigrants from many countries. We are diverse in socioeconomic status and in geography, combining families from the District with those from Central Maryland and Northern Virginia. We believe that our diversity makes us stronger; that it complements and reinforces what our delegates learn during their CISV experiences; and that ‘How alike am I to you’ is not just a line in the CISV song: It is something we need to live every day.
